Welcome to the Botanical Study Yarn Club. With this club we will be exploring various natural dyeing plants creating with them gorgeous, botanically dyed yarns.

This listing is to order this month's colorway Aisha, dyed with Henna leaves.

Henna is famous for it’s use in body art painting and as a hair dye, but did you know that you can also dye fibers with it?

The leaves of Lawsonia Inermis are dried and turned into pouder, which can be used to dye yarn or fabric in warm earthy brown shades.

I first learned about henna through the body painting art in the Arabic culture, as well as in Asia, however it is considered one of the most ancient natural dyes, traced back to ancient Egypt. Henna is rich in tannins and contains an orange brown compound named lawsone, hence the extensive use of it as a hair, skin and fiber dye.

Linen Breeze gets dyed similarly to Bamboo/Linen, and wool is similar to Sappho.
