It is the national tree of Brazil, and Europeans were impressed by the abundance of it across the coastline. When cut, it revealed a red interior that looked like the glow of an ember. Sadly Brazilwood got heavily exploited during the first colonising centuries up to the 20\u003csup\u003eth\u003c\/sup\u003e century for its use as a dye and instrument production. The heavy exploitation by the Europeans, almost brought to extinguish this beautiful tree, but thankfully due to regulation set, Brazilwood has been restored and is no longer in danger.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eThe heartwood of Brazilwood is what is used in natural dyeing and it dyes gorgeous shades of red.
